The Bouchard Finlayson cellar is conveniently located a scenic 90 minutes’ drive from Cape Town, close to the world-famous whale-watching centre of Hermanus.
Bouchard Finlayson’s portfolio of world-class wines are painstakingly crafted to offer a perfect expression of the unique Hemel-en-Aarde terroir, and in this scenic valley the ancient soils and a cool maritime climate offer the ideal conditions for cultivating elegant Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay.
Founder Peter Finlayson is widely regarded as the pioneer of Pinot Noir in South Africa, and Bouchard Finlayson has won worldwide acclaim for the quality and complexity of the Pinot Noir produced here at the southern tip of Africa. From groundbreaking viticultural techniques in the vineyards, to constant innovation in the cellar, Bouchard Finlayson has earned its reputation as one of South Africa’s leading boutique cellars.
As a boutique cellar, Bouchard Finlayson produces around 16 000 cases of wine per year. Our focus is on crafting exceptional New World expressions of Pinot Noir, alongside terroir-driven Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, while our red and white blends speak to the versatility and talent of the winemaking team led by Chris Albrecht, and supported by founder Peter Finlayson.
Key to that experimentation is more sustainable cellar practices, and thanks to the use of modern fining and settling agents the majority of Bouchard Finlayson wines are now 100% vegan-friendly.
