A quiet seaside retreat
Okavango Delta, Botswana
The story of Xigera Safari Lodge is one of renewal. Of rebirth and family legacy, and of the pioneering spirit that drives us to seek out Africa’s wild spaces. The same spirit that inspired this remarkable reimagining, perhaps a complete reinvention, of an Okavango Delta safari. This is Xigera (pronounced ‘kee-jera’), named for the Pied Kingfisher that makes its home amid the watery channels of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve. Every aspect is handcrafted to beguile our guests’ senses and stir their souls – from the evocative interiors to one-of-a-kind encounters. But Xigera is equally a line in the sand. A raising of the bar. A bold statement in the realm of luxury safaris in Botswana, and an Okavango Delta safari experience like no other.
For more than three decades Bouchard Finlayson has pioneered, and perfected, the art of crafting world-class Pinot Noir. Today, our cellar produces wines that are a true expression of the complex soils, cool climate and maritime location that define our remarkable vineyards. Discover wines with the purity and elegance of this Old World cultivar, married with the vibrancy and vigour of the New World.
While celebrating the Burgundian traditions of winemaking, Bouchard Finlayson has been quick to embrace innovation. This includes our evolution to vegan-friendly wine production and modern closures, alongside a sharpened focus on sustainability across the estate.
Our founder Peter Finlayson pioneered the planting of vineyards in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley, and today works alongside winemaker Chris Albrecht in crafting our boutique portfolio of terroir-driven wines.
Bouchard Finlayson is open daily for visitors, with an array of experiences on offer at our charming cellar-door tasting room. Skilled wine ambassadors are on hand to guide you through our portfolio of wines, with a selection of tutored tasting experiences on offer. These are best enjoyed with our generous cheese and charcuterie platters. Cellar tours are available on request, and visitors are encouraged to enjoy the self-guided walking trails on our fynbos nature conservancy.
